Fit went to the dealership yesterday for registration, inspection, wearable parts, new CVT assembly coils, spark plugs, belts, etc, etc also insurance. Total bill 140,000 yen. Notbadobama.jpg.

I then spent today patching up the driver (RHD) side RS seat bolster and the floor mat the previous owner had damaged. Shampooed the front seats, wiped down all of the interior, and washed and waxed the outside.

To do list: paint that roof. Might just go black, honestly. Its condition is purely cosmetic and is a big reason I get this thing for cheap. My alloys remain somewhere in Nagoya. Dealer is currently caught in Covid immigration hell, so they’re in a warehouse somewhere and he isn’t in a position to get them to me.

Might I ask what happened to the other Honda you had? The one that was like a little Civic whose name I can’t remember haha.

Also what happened to the roof? It’s not a particularly old car and AFAIK Japan isn’t a particularly sunny place. Is it a bad repair or something?

The Logo just stopped working. Wouldn’t start. Wasn’t any of the obvious things. Probably needed some kind of expensive part. I gave up on it and had it hauled away.

I have no idea, honestly. The roof has no dents, so it is definitely a paint issue. And yeah, they tried to fix it badly. As soon as I gave it a good washing when I first got it, the bucket turned blue. I have the skills to repaint it, but probably not a good place to do it. Going black is something I could probably do quickly enough to do it in my parking space, maybe? Especially the middle of a workday when most of the other spaces are empty?

Poor Logo.

I hope it works out. I think black would be rad, certainly easier to get right. And it’s the roof and those cars are fairly tall - nobody will notice :) Maybe they’ll think you have a full length sunroof at a glance...

Vinyl wraps are not dissimilar to window tinting and perhaps aren't for the DIY market unless one is prepared to make mistakes. I'd imagine there's any number of places that could do it...even a signwriter could probably manage it!

Hiya Kat! Hope you’re doing well! Fit is looking good, aside from the roof paint...a lot of Civics of that generation over here seem to have that problem....was that a known issue on Hondas of that age?

At least in the US, Honda had/has a bit of a reputation for their darker colors not holding up - to the point where there was a TSB and a warranty extension for some models. This one was for the ‘06-‘13  Civic; I haven’t found anything on the Fit though.  I wouldn’t be surprised if Honda had similar issues in Japan.

I dunno, I have never had a Honda newer than the year 2000. This is, in fact, the newest car I’ve owned.

...which I have to say. Makes it feel super luxurious. The number of speakers, everything electric and digital. The frikken SD/HDD/DVD/CD/TV/AUX/iPOD/Bluetooth/Navigation console is just bonkers.

The seats aren’t quite my DC5 Recaros, of course (and they’ll be going in as soon as I can afford the rails), but they’re way better than my Civid hatch DX stock seats or even the multi adjustable seats from the Logo. They’re like... almost racing seats, but not quite. The base is shared with all fits, but the head rests/black with red stitching is RS only. It looks grayish in photos , but in person you call tell, all the plastic and all the fabric is red on black. Those tiny dot patterns on the seats aren’t white/gray. They’re faded red!

Also since they did all that replacement work it drives, to me, like the second best car I have ever driven, only after my 2000 BMW 3-series.

Known issue, to the point that Honda extended the warranty and issued several TSBs for those colors.

Hi! I had a 2013 Fit Sport from new, in the factory blue color. The stock paint is thin and there are a lot of 2010-2013 Fits running around the US with similarly sun burnt roof and hood paint. Mine didn’t do that because I washed, clay bar and waxed it religiously every 4 months from new, then a tree company scratched and d inged up the roof and I had to have it r epainted anyway.
